Updates on anti-anarchist repression (Italy, January-February 2021)

Beppe transferred from Pavia prison to that of Bologna (January 25, 2021)

On January 21, 2021 anarchist Giuseppe Bruna was transferred from Pavia prison to that of Bologna. He says the journey went well and that he is now in quarantine-isolation in a special section for the management of Covid-19. He has been placed in AS3 [“High Surveillance 3”] and has had a rapid swab which was negative. He says he has few stamps.

His next hearings are: February 8, 2021 for the “Prometeo” repressive operation, together with comrade Natascia Savio, while for the facts of the Genoa post office [attempted arson attack on a post office, June 8, 2016] the hearing will take place on February 23, 2021, there will be the report of the last experts, a statement from him and the hearing.

Updates from Genova: Francesco released from prison and special surveillance for a comrade (February 6, 2021)

Last night Francesco was released thanks to a successful request for early release, which will probably lead him to face house arrest soon, but for the moment we are happy to be able to embrace him, free, outside the infamous prison walls. Updates will follow.

With regard to the request for Special Surveillance for a Genoese comrade, two weeks after the hearing of January 20, the court of Genoa decided to impose two years of red booklet [the booklet in which all restrictions are noted], all accompanied by 50 pages of reasons for the sentence.

We are well aware that our enemy will continue to attack us, trying to limit our freedom more and more, but we have long since chosen our side!

Alongside the comrades affected by repression, always complicit and in solidarity.

Searches in Umbria (February 3, 2021)

On February 3, 2021 at 6.30 a.m. three searches are carried out in Terni and its surroundings. The investigation is ordered by prosecutor Comodi of the Perugia Public Prosecutor’s Office and led to the seizure of: correspondence with anarchist prisoners, writings, pamphlets, books, the usual computer devices and clothing.

Two people are investigated for 270 bis [subversive association with the purposes of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order], 414 c. p. [instigation to commit crimes], 81 c. p. [formal participation] and only one of the two is also investigated for 290 c. p [contempt of the republic, of constitutional institutions and of the armed forces].

The 270 bis is motivated by the presence of the poster “Colpiamoli a casa loro” (“Let’s hit them in their home”) on the walls of the city of Terni. The 290 is motivated by several writings appeared always in Terni.

Individualities from Terni

Note: Manuela Comodi is the same prosecutor of “Brushwood” (2007, five arrests), “Shadow” (2009, two arrests) and “Ardire” (2012, ten arrests) anti-anarchist repressive operations. All three operations had also other comrades investigated at large. “Brushwood” and “Shadow” ended with some convictions for specific facts (in particular, “Brushwood” with a conviction for subversive purposes), while “Ardire” was split into two investigations: the one in Perugia ended in nothing, the one conducted by the Milan prosecutor’s office merged into the “Scripta Manent” trial (arrests of September 6, 2016 and convictions of April 2019 and November 2020).

Searches and arrests in Florence for the October 30 clashes (February 3, 2021)

On February 3, 2021 in Florence, 19 precautionary measures were notified by the police to 19 people accused of taking part in the day of clashes against the police and damage in the centre of the Tuscan capital on October 30. Seven people have been placed under house arrest, seven under the obligation to stay in the municipality of residence (with a ban on leaving the house between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.) and five with the obligation to go periodically to sign at a barracks. According to media reports, the arrestees and the others subjected of the restrictions can be traced back to the “anarchist and antagonist area” and are accused of “damaging public and private property, resistance, violence and injury to public officials, making and throwing incendiary bottles”.

The clashes of October 30 lasted about three hours and ended late in the evening. Five policemen were lightly injured, eight police vehicles were damaged and about 30,000 euro of damage was caused to street furniture and road signs.

Searches in Milan (January 27, 2021)

On January 27, the Digos [political police] of Milan disturbed the peaceful tranquillity of a group of comrades by knocking on their doors. In the streets of the Corvetto neighbourhood, they broke into three flats with the justification of being on the lookout for explosives and weapons – according to article “41 TULPS”. While in Ticinese, in search of a comrade – whom they have not yet found – they disturbed the life of a few flats of comrades and others.

The searches were concluded within an hour and had negative results except for one. The cops took away some clothes that they said were relevant to an investigation into the damaging of a post office in the Ortica area.
