Italy: “Scripta Manent” operation – Anna has been transferred from Lecce prison to Messina (March 2019)
We learn that Anna (an anarchist imprisoned since September 6, 2016, for the Scripta Manent operation, sentenced on April 24, 2019, to 17 years in the first instance sentence of the trial) has been transferred from Lecce prison to Messina prison. The transfer does not seem to be due to disciplinary measures but to the need to find free cells in Lecce prison.
Anna reported that she is fine despite the somewhat troubled trip on her cell phone, but from first impressions the situation looks better than in Lecce, being in a cell with shower inside and kitchenette. They would have told her that also in this case it is a temporary situation.
In Messina there is an AS3 section (Alta Sorveglianza 3, “High Surveillance 3”), generally anarchists accused of crimes of terrorism or subversion of the democratic order are imprisoned in the AS2 circuit but currently there is no female AS2 section for imprisoned anarchists, so the comrades are placed in AS3 sections. The female AS2 section for anarchists, in L’Aquila prison (whose conditions were almost equivalent to detention under 41bis), against which a long hunger strike was carried out between May and June 2019, was substantially closed.
