On March 6th, 2018 [Note: The hearing was adjourned until early April at the request of the defense], comrades Joaquín García Chanks and Kevin Garrido will face trial preparation in a judicial process that began in November 2015 when both were arrested.
This judicial instance will define the evidence that the Southern Prosecutor’s Office will use in the future trial where it will unleash its frenzy of repression and punishment, this time using the arms control law.
Comrade Joaquín, for his part is facing:
*15 years imprisonment for the placement of the explosive device at Police Station No. 12. (Action claimed by International Conspiracy for Revenge / Gerasimos Tsakalos Cell)
*4 years and 6 months for illegal possession of weapons. (After the comrade’s house arrest was cancelled in June 2016 and Joaquín was arrested by BIPE / Investigations Police of Chile in September of the same year carrying a revolver)
*800 days for possession of ammunition. (Ammunition found when the comrade was captured)
Kevin for his part, is accused of the attack on the gendarmerie school in San Bernardo (where he was detained), as well as possession of explosive material, illegal possession of a knife, the attack on the electric company Chilectra (claimed by the Karr-Kai Cell) and for the same charge as Joaquín for the attempted attack against the police station. The prosecution is requesting more than 30 years imprisonment for him.
