Australia / Indonesia: Joint Solidarity Actions for Anarchists
Facing State Repression and Torture in Russia
Comrades in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in so-called Australia and Borneo in Indonesia recently carried out coordinated actions in solidarity with Anarchists in Russia facing State repression and torture.
The most recent wave of repression against comrades in Russia began in early February when the FSB (Federal Security Service, the successor agency to the Soviet Union’s KGB) carried out raids that resulted in the arrests of a dozen comrades. The comrades were brutally tortured over a 24 hour period and forced to sign incriminating statements. Following this, 11 of the comrades were released. The remaining comrade Azat Miftakhov, a graduate student in mechanics and mathematics at Moscow State University, was disappeared into the legal system so that the FSB could continue interrogating and torturing him. The FSB were alleging that Azat had manufactured explosives and attempted to bomb a gas pipe-line on the outskirts of Moscow. Over the next few days Azat was officially detained and released several times after the court found there was insufficient evidence to remand him in custody. However each time he was released he was rearrested by FSB officers for further interrogation. Finally, Azat was remanded in custody until March 7, 2019 on suspicion of involvement in an incident of minor vandalism against an office of the ruling United Russia Party – a window of the office was broken and a smoke bomb was thrown inside. The only evidence against Azat is the testimony of an alleged ‘secret’ witness.
Solidarity with all Anarchists and Antifascists facing State Repression and Torture in Russia!!
The Russian State and the FSB are the Real Terrorists!!!
