On January 28, 2019, the prison authorities decided to punish the Mapuche community leader and Political Prisoner Celestino Córdova for his response along with other Mapuche Political Prisoners in November 2018 when they mutinied in immediate response to the assassination of Camilo Catrilanca by the Chilean state’s paramilitary ‘Jungle Command’.
The administrative punishment on the one hand seeks to repress any gesture of solidarity by political prisoners and on the other had, in particular, to prevent Celestino from accessing any possible prison privileges.
