Trento, Italy: “Renata” Operation – Sentence of the first instance trial (December 5th, 2019)

The second hearing of the trial for the “Renata” repressive operation [arrests of February 19th, 2019] was held on Thursday, December 5th, 2018.

After the prosecutor requests and the defense’s harangue, the sentence arrived around 14:30: the accusations of subversive association for the purpose of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order as well as the aggravating terrorism for those who did not the association offense was contested. Consequently, convictions were issued for specific crimes (production of false documents, damage, violation of the arms law). Poza was sentenced to two years and six months; Agnes and Stecco at two years; Rupert at one year and nine months; Sasha and Nico at one year and ten months; Giulio was acquitted and released on the same day.

On December 9th, given the exclusion of the crime of subversive association with the purpose of terrorism, the same prosecutor requested that the measures of house arrest be changed with the obligation to stay in the same municipalities, with nightly return from 10 to 6:30. Different speech for Stecco, who for now remains in prison to serve a definitive sentence concerning another trial, and who in theory will be subject to the obligation to stay in a municipality when he will released from prison.

Broader reflections will follow.
