Montichiari, Italy: Damage and graffiti to a carabinieri monument

From the local press we learn that the monument to the Carabinieri  in the “Caduti di Nasiriya” park [commemorating the ‘Fallen of Nasiriya’ in Iraq in 2003, when 13 Italian carabinieri, 4 Italian soldiers and 2 Italian and 9 Iraqi civilians were killed] was the target of three vandalistic attacks in the last month.

Between 16th and 17th December graffiti was left on the base of the monument: “Carabinieri in line”, which was claimed by anarchists. Between 30th and 31st December a marble sign in remembrance of carabinieri was smashed.

Between 3rd and 4th January graffiti was left on the monument: “Carlo Giuliani Park. Cops Murderers”.

It seems that the surveillance cameras system in the park is not working and it will be a difficult task to identify those responsible.
