Germany: Paint attack against the RWE Tower in solidarity with the Hambach Forest Resistance

On the night before Christmas Day the RWE Tower in Essen was beautified with color by activists. Several slogans such as ‘Fuck RWE’, ‘Earth Liberation Front’ and ‘Hambi Bleibt’ were left behind and paint buckets were emptied in the entrance area. This action is one of many within the framework of the destruction of Hambach Forest which has been occupied by environmental activists since 2012. Here are a few words from this action group and a report from an arrested person.

“(…)No paint bucket is big enough to paint the crimes of RWE (Rhenish-Westphalian Power Plant), but every drop is worth marking out exploitation and natural disaster so during the night of the 24th to the 25th of December we attacked the headquarters of RWE with color.

This direct action targeted only one enterprise but our action was directed against capitalism and the existing order in general.

At a time when the nights are longest and society is devoted to blind consumerism we decided to put a stop to this logic of profit maximization and to counteract the lethargic masses.

Our action group ‘Bloody Bastards’ moved through the night along the Essener Strasse and successfully attacked the RWE Tower.

The high police presence due to the assassinations and the attack on the Christmas Market led to the arrest of 4 people who were supposedly close to the scene at that time. The police should have been on the scene in a few minutes with heaps of cars and dogs.

Whether or not these people are actually activists or not remains open.

(…)

It is clear that everyone is free again, and we are looking forward to the future court cases because there will be an opportunity to attack RWE publicly and to discuss their misdeeds!

Until then we would like to have a lot of courage and more actions!

Solidarity with Hambacher Forest and all other ZADs where people fight for a better future!

Love and strength for all political prisoners and freedom for ThunFisch!

Viva the E.L.F.

– The Bloody Bastards

An arrested person reports ill-treatment and disproportionate violence:

“After being arrested an officer in the car pushed me to the top of the roof so I lost consciousness for a short time with my hands cuffed behind my back in the patrol car…I was beaten up by the guard, strangled as I was lifted up the stairs and thrown in a cell by three cops where I was pushed onto the ground with my hands cuffed behind my back. Without pants or a jacket I was let back onto the streets after 8 or 9 hours(…)”
