Germany: After the Latest No G20 Raids – Resist Repression!

In the early morning hours of December 5th, a total of 24 politically motivated searches took place in eight federal states. The reason for this was the resistance against the G20 summit in Hamburg at the beginning of July this year. The police broke into living spaces and two left-wing housing projects. In Stuttgart, among other places, the ‘Left Centre Lilo Herrmann’ was targeted for repression.

Against the G20 repression!

Expose and Fight the Police State!

The background of the raids was the brutal police operation in Rondenbarg, an industrial area in Hamburg. A demonstration march was brutally attacked and dispersed by police in the early morning hours of July 7th. This resulted in countless lightly and 14 seriously injured demonstrators, several arrests and months of pre-trial detention. In order to justify this completely disproportionate procedure in retrospect, involved parties are now to be hunted down, made scapegoats and criminalized. Attack is the best defense after all…

The G20 summit currently helps the rulers to expand their security apparatus and tighten repression against activist networks. It is backed by a media hate campaign – as one would expect, from the Springer press. Political dissent is met with knee-jerk actions such as the recent raids – although the police and judiciary are objectively in a position of weakness: their claims of wide-scale crime during the summit have gradually collapsed – the alleged ‘massive attack’ against police forces in Rondebarg was refuted by video evidence, the alleged ‘terrorist’ ambush in the Schanze on the same evening turned out to be a spontaneous gathering of local residents.

Resistance against the representatives of global capitalism, which is plunging more and more people into poverty, war and hopelessness, is and always will remain necessary. This cannot be repressed by nationwide police operations. Just as tens of thousands of people banded together to oppose the summit of leaders in the struggle for a better society, we will now face this repression together. This means resisting the attempts to intimidate us, countering the mass media narrative and standing together in solidarity. When the State targets individuals they are targeting us all – and the recent raids are certainly not the last. Instead of sticking our heads in the sand, its now time to show our strength. In Hamburg, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Saxony-Anhalt, Rhineland-Platinate and Lower Saxony – wherever they have struck, it is time to fight back!
