Confront the G7 Agriculture: October 14-15, Italy

On 14th and 15th October in Bergamo, the G7 agriculture will be held, a theatrical consensus where the “powerful” of the earth will flourish green colors of sustainability, organic agriculture, small and local productions, at km 0. The techno-industrial system can not be sustainable by its very constitution. Greening is part of the necessary garment with which power appears in these official occasions: green is the way it can cover and justify disadvantages of any kind.
If agriculture G7 takes place in Bergamo, we have to go to the Minister of Agriculture Martina. Even he, originally from these territories, may want to feel like “km 0” as the agricultural cultures he has never seen, but he likes to tell the story at every convention. He recently stated that his will, upholding the G7, is “giving voice to peasants, farmers and fishermen from all over the world to tackle key issues together.”
How can we think that the peasantry’s voice may be in the face of strong powers such as political, scientific, and multinational companies? The only thing that this statement implies, in our view, is rather the creation of new bodies and powers which, while claiming to represent people, crush any residual autonomy left and introduce new harms certified by the competent body of turn. When we do not take what we want but delegate some representative we do not buy freedom, we simply change our master. When these powers say that they want to cooperate with all stakeholders, it means that they are not just taking advantage of it, but they want more and more atomized people to participate in their exploitation on a voluntary basis: here is the triumph of democracy and progressive principles!
These new powers / bosses are thus welcomed by the old ones in the rooms of the palaces and together, they share what remains of a world increasingly scattered. The genetic erosion of agricultural crops has now shifted to the ever-more intoxicated minds of this techno-scientific system which on one side destroys life and on the other promises to “redo” nature in the lab through biotechnology and, today, Even with nanotechnologies, in a convergence that led us to synthetic biology.
Of this scenario, it is indispensable to make some examples to understand what the “green world” of the technology industry is so fond of promoters of unlimited progress. We will also be at “Km 0”!
In Stezzano (BG) is the center for genetic research on cereal crops in which scientists manipulate the DNA of corn plants and then introduce them into the agricultural circuit. This means that agriculture is now heavily dependent on patrons and that, as is already the case in many parts of the world, ancient and widespread knowledge is supplanted by the new scientific verb: even if the seeds of the “green revolution” have no No miracle, we will think of the hybrid genetically manipulated and CRISP (“Gravity Handling Technique Evolution”) In vast areas of the world peasants undergo the control, arrogance and violence of the big multinationals Such as Monsanto imposing their rules, primarily through commercial treaties that also legitimize repression. The “possibility” of choice is a mere chimera: the only choice is among the pages of their catalogs … This is what the powerful G7 want – a world in which people, and especially those who produce food from small agriculture They are stripped of any autonomy; A world in which agrobusinness signs are owners of the DNA of living beings. A totally artificial world where experimental field and laboratory become the new company, with one share of risks and benefits. “New” society in which those who are sacrificable to the market or to the progress god always come from the same direction: the exploited and exploitable of yesterday and today. When these manipulations enter into the bodies we can easily realize without the need for technical or expert knowledge of the extent to which power has colonized every sphere of the living.
Another example: Grassobbio (BG) is headquartered by the Israeli chemical multinational Adama, which produces and markets poisonings used in our campaigns, among which one of the most damaging and even the most widespread: glyphosate. Companies like these make the air we breathe, the water we drink and the foods we eat are deadly cocktails of molecules produced in the lab. The harmful effects of poisons on living organisms are so many: genetic malformations, desertification, up to the death of animals, plants, and entire ecosystems. Another unpleasant legacy of this war against nature is climate change. Obviously even a company like Adama could not have its own list of lies and environmental rhetoric: in fact it also sells “green” organic products! This is the biological meaning for the agri-food industry: a new market area. Nothing further away from the sensitivity and culture of those who still produce food without using poisons. How can economics and capitalism be sustainable? In other words, how is it possible that endless exploitation and accumulation in a finite planet are sustainable? This is what the economy does: absorb anything that can and make it profitable. There seems to be the same process that is happening for most organic farming products: what is a natural product? Beyond what it contains, its methods of cultivation and production, it is now part of a smart marketing form, the same as the “echo” prefix to sell the usual poisons. Human bodies and other animals, as well as the surrounding environment, are saturated with these poisons, and the best way to keep up with them, in addition to economic blackmail, is by deceiving a rustic, bucolic, green and natural.
To promote their world model, the various G7, Expo, need characters such as Martina and all those who have seen in the biological and in the harm management industry the new chance to go ahead and grind profits. In order to respond to this need, Bergamo has just been created the “bio district” which, beyond the propaganda image itself, as an entity that promotes sustainability, is by no means the natural landing place to which small Agricultural realities that for years, in Bergamo and elsewhere, are really involved in projects where no poisons are used and who would rather criticize the dominant pattern of food production. What is actually the bio-district tells us again Minister Martina, who intervened at the inauguration of this body last November in the palace of the Province, asserted that the “bio district will be the passepartout for the G7 agriculture.” What is and how it functions is also evident from the conference organized by the bio-district itself in mid-June in Bergamo: they have been called upon to host a whole array of trade associations, technicians, presidents, mayors and councilors who in various ways have continued To shake this “attention to small productions and the economy from the bottom”. But where were the small producers then? There are plenty of reflections to be done and we hope each one begins to make them with their own head and confronting others. We think that instead of proposing “magic formulas” for change as do specialists of dissent and politics, it is important today to restart radical critique in this world to begin to detoxify all the dangers of the bodies and minds. We think it is important to realize that we live in a condition of obvious dependence on this system and that if it is its abatement we want, we will have to begin to act concretely every day, trying to tear more and more spaces of freedom and autonomy.
By colonizing with each message channel its information channel, the system often makes us believe that there is no chance of living and thinking of a radically different world. One thing is certain, another world is possible, but we have to get rid of it before that. Whoever tells us that it is possible to co-exist with this exemplary exploitation, perhaps speaking of labeling, precautionary method, traceability and security, often represents the impostor who is not going to change anything but simply seeks an ethical and solidal niche where to settle and nudge.With this coordination of critical people against the G7 we want to try to make sense of what these official meetings are and to uncover who from these meetings are profitable to continue to keep things as they are, declaring themselves an opponent but, concretely, sustaining and serving the powers always Tall and strong.
Our path of criticism and struggle does not start with the G7 agriculture and will definitely not end with the October summit here in Bergamo. We think it is important to go back to mobilizing ourselves and build critical paths that can also go from food production from below, with non-poisoned land and self-production, small markets disconnected from bio-industrial rules and certifications, until opposition moments ‘Poisoning in progress, for example against pesticides, GMOs, industrial monocultures …
We do not want to be an alternative, we have nothing to replace and smuggle into this market: the alternative to war is not peace, rather a world where the very premises for which a war can be cut off at the root.

G7 AGRICOLTURA: AFFARI, CONTROLLO E DOMINIO
Il 14 e 15 ottobre a Bergamo si svolgerà il G7 agricoltura, un teatrino del consenso in cui i “potenti” della terra sventoleranno i colori verdi della sostenibilità, dell’agricoltura biologica, delle produzioni piccole e locali, a km 0. Quello che succede e succederà concretamente, non deciso esclusivamente in questo vertice, è gettare tra le fameliche fauci del mercato globale i piccoli produttori agricoli, i territori, le popolazioni, gli ecosistemi naturali continuando così ad alimentare e sostenere l’agribusinnes.
Il sistema tecno-industriale non può essere sostenibile per sua stessa costituzione. Il fatto di tingersi di verde fa parte della necessaria veste con cui il potere si presenta in queste occasioni ufficiali: il verde rappresenta il modo con cui può coprire e giustificare nefandezze di ogni tipo.
Se il G7 agricoltura si svolge a Bergamo lo dobbiamo al ministro dell’agricoltura Martina. Anche lui, originario di questi territori, forse desidera sentirsi a “km 0” come le culture agricole che non ha mai visto, ma di cui gli piace narrare la storia ad ogni convegno. Recentemente ha dichiarato che la sua volontà, sostenendo vertici come il G7, è “dare voce a contadini, allevatori e pescatori di ogni parte del mondo per affrontare insieme questioni fondamentali”.
Come possiamo pensare che la voce dei contadini possa avere un peso di fronte a poteri forti come le istituzioni politiche, scientifiche e le compagnie multinazionali? L’unica cosa che questa affermazione implica, secondo noi, è piuttosto la creazione di nuovi enti e poteri i quali, mentre affermano di rappresentare le persone, schiacciano ogni residuo di autonomia rimasta e immettono nuove nocività certificate dall’organismo competente di turno. Quando non ci prendiamo ciò che vogliamo ma deleghiamo un qualche rappresentante non acquistiamo libertà, cambiamo semplicemente padrone. Quando questi poteri dicono che vogliono cooperare con tutti i soggetti interessati significa che non gli basta più sfruttare ma vogliono che le persone, sempre più atomizzate, partecipino al proprio sfruttamento su base volontaria: ecco il trionfo della democrazia e dei principi progressisti! Questi nuovi poteri/padroni vengono così accolti da quelli vecchi nelle stanze dei palazzi e insieme, si spartiscono quello che resta di un mondo sempre più allo sfascio. L’erosione genetica dalle colture agricole si è ormai trasferita nelle menti sempre più intossicate da questo sistema tecno-scientifico il quale da una parte distrugge la vita e dall’altra promette di “rifare” la natura in laboratorio attraverso le biotecnologie e, oggi, anche con le nanotecnologie, in una convergenza che ci ha portato fino alla biologia sintetica.
Di questo scenario è indispensabile fare qualche esempio per comprendere cosa sia quel “mondo verde” della tecnoindustria che tanto piace ai promotori del progresso illimitato. Staremo anche noi a “Km 0”!
A Stezzano (BG) ha sede il centro di ricerca genetica sulla cerealicoltura nel quale scienziati manipolano il DNA delle piante di mais per poi introdurle nel circuito agricolo. Questo significa che oggi l’agricoltura è strettamente subordinata a chi controlla i brevetti e che, come già accade in numerose zone del mondo, gli antichi e diffusi saperi vengono soppiantati dal nuovo verbo scientifico: anche se i semi della “rivoluzione verde” non hanno fatto alcun miracolo, ci penseranno quelli ibridi, manipolati geneticamente e col CRISP ( “Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats”, evoluzione tecnica di manipolazione genetica) In vaste zone del pianeta i contadini subiscono il controllo, l’arroganza e la violenza delle grosse multinazionali come Monsanto che impongono le loro regole, in primis attraverso trattati commerciali che legittimano anche la repressione. La “possibilità” di scelta è una mera chimera: l’unica scelta è tra le pagine dei loro cataloghi… È questo che i potenti del G7 vogliono: un mondo in cui le persone, ed in particolare chi produce cibo a partire dalla piccola agricoltura vengano spogliate da ogni autonomia; un mondo in cui i cartelli dell’agrobusinnes siano proprietari del DNA degli esseri viventi. Un mondo totalmente artificializzato dove campo sperimentale e laboratorio diventano la nuova società, con un’unica condivisione di rischi e benefici. “Nuova” società nella quale chi è sacrificabile al mercato o al dio progresso arriva sempre dalla stessa direzione: gli sfruttati e sfruttabili di ieri e di oggi. Quando queste manipolazioni entrano fin dentro i corpi possiamo facilmente renderci conto, senza bisogno di essere tecnici o esperti, del grado in cui il potere ha colonizzato ogni sfera del vivente.
Altro esempio: a Grassobbio (BG) ha sede la multinazionale israeliana chimica Adama che produce e commercializza i veleni usati nelle nostre campagne tra i quali uno dei più dannosi ed anche il più diffuso: il glifosate. Aziende come queste fanno sì che l’aria che respiriamo, l’acqua che beviamo e i cibi che mangiamo siano cocktail micidiali di molecole prodotte in laboratorio. Gli effetti nefasti dei veleni sugli organismi viventi sono tanti: malformazioni genetiche, desertificazione, fino alla morte di animali, piante e di interi ecosistemi. Un’altra sgradita eredità di questa guerra contro la natura è il cambiamento climatico. Ovviamente anche una compagnia come Adama non poteva non avere il suo corredo di menzogne e retoriche ambientaliste: infatti commercia anche “verdi” prodotti biologici! Questo è il significato di biologico per l’industria agroalimentare: una nuova area di mercato. Nulla di più lontano dalla sensibilità e cultura di chi ancora si produce il cibo senza uso di veleni. Come è possibile che l’economia e il capitalismo siano sostenibili? In altre parole, come è possibile che sfruttamento e accumulazione infinita in un pianeta finito siano sostenibili? È questo che fa l’economia: assorbire tutto ciò che può e metterlo a profitto. Ci sembra sia lo stesso processo che sta avvenendo per la maggior parte delle produzioni di agricoltura biologica: cosa è infatti un prodotto naturale? Al di là di ciò che contiene, dei suoi metodi di coltivazione e produzione, è attualmente parte di una forma astuta di marketing, la stessa che si è appropriata del prefisso “eco” per venderci i soliti veleni. I corpi umani e degli altri animali così come l’ambiente che ci circonda sono saturi di questi veleni e il modo migliore per continuare a propinarceli, oltre al ricatto economico, è appunto con l’inganno di un’immagine rustica e bucolica, verde e naturale.
Per promuovere il loro modello di mondo i vari G7, Expo, hanno bisogno di personaggi come Martina e di tutti coloro che hanno visto nel biologico e nell’industria della gestione della nocività la nuova possibilità di andare avanti e macinare profitti. Per rispondere anche a questa esigenza, a Bergamo è da poco stato creato il “bio-distretto” che, al di là dell’immagine che propaganda di sè, come ente che promuove sostenibilità, non è affatto il naturale approdo a cui giungono le piccole realtà agricole che da anni, a Bergamo e altrove, sono realmente impegnate in progetti dove non si usano veleni di nessun tipo e che vorrebbero invece portare una critica al modello dominante di produzione del cibo. Cosa sia in realtà il bio-distretto ce lo dice di nuovo il ministro Martina che, intervenuto all’inaugurazione di questo ente avvenuta il novembre scorso nel palazzo della Provincia, affermava che il “bio-distretto sarà il passepartout per il G7 agricoltura”. Cosa sia e come funzioni si evince anche dalla conferenza organizzata dal bio-distretto stesso a metà giugno a Bergamo: sono stati chiamati a tener banco tutta una schiera di associazioni di categoria, tecnici, presidenti, sindaci, assessori che in vario modo hanno continuato a sbandierare questa “attenzione alle piccole produzioni e all’economia dal basso”. Ma dove erano allora i piccoli produttori? Ovviamente non potevano esserci perchè certi contesti quando parlano di piccolo hanno in mente l’intensivo, quando pensano all’innovazione sognano parchi tecnologici e incubatori di imprese e se parlano di biologico stanno già pensando come avvelenare, a norma di legge, con produzioni “biologiche” che magari arrivano dalla Romania.
Di riflessioni da fare ce ne sarebbero moltissime e ci auguriamo che ognuno ricominci a farle con la propria testa e confrontandosi con gli altri. Pensiamo infatti che invece di proporre “formule magiche” per il cambiamento come fanno gli specialisti del dissenso e della politica sia, oggi, importante ricominciare dalla critica radicale a questo mondo per iniziare a disintossicarsi da tutte le nocività che ammorbano i corpi e le menti. Pensiamo sia importante rendersi conto che viviamo in una condizione di evidente dipendenza da questo sistema e che, se è il suo abbattimento che vogliamo, dovremo ricominciare ad agire concretamente, ogni giorno, cercando di strappare sempre più spazi di libertà e di autonomia.
Colonizzando con i suoi messaggi ogni canale informativo, il sistema fa spesso credere a tutti noi che non ci sia nessuna possibilità di vivere e pensare un mondo radicalmente diverso. Una cosa è certa, un’altro mondo è si possibile, ma dobbiamo sbarazzarci prima di questo. Chi ci dice che è possibile coabitare con questo esitente fatto di sfruttamento, magari parlandoci di etichettatura, metodo precauzionale, tracciabilità e sicurezza rappresenta spesso l’impostore che non ha intenzione di cambiare nulla ma semplicemente cerca una nicchia etica e solidale dove sistemarsi e annidarsi.
Con questo coordinamento di persone critiche contro il G7 vogliamo provare a ridare senso a quello che sono questi incontri ufficiali e smascherare chi da questi incontri trae profitto per continuare a mantenere le cose come stanno, dichiarandosi oppositore ma, concretamente, sostenendo e servendo sempre i poteri alti e forti.
Il nostro percorso di critica e lotta non inizia con il G7 agricoltura e sicuramente non finirà con il vertice di ottobre qui a Bergamo. Pensiamo sia importante tornare a mobilitarci in prima persona e costruire percorsi critici che possano passare anche dalla produzione di cibo dal basso, con terra non avvelenata e autoproduzioni, piccoli mercatini slegati dalle regole e dalle certificazioni del bio-industriale, fino a momenti di opposizione all’avvelenamento in corso, per esempio contro i pesticidi, gli OGM, le monocolture industriali…
Non vogliamo essere un’alternativa, non abbiamo niente da sostituire e contrabbandare in questo mercato: l’alternativa alla guerra non è la pace, piuttosto un mondo dove le premesse stesse per cui una guerra è possibile siano scardinate alla radice.
