The political prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas is part of our flesh, part of the flesh of the revolutionary movement, part of the historical experience of the guerrillas of post-war Europe. A consistent and unrepentant fighter who has been imprisoned for his choice of facing the barbarity of the capitalist system under threat of weapons. Such a fighter can only find us at his side with all our hearts and strength, against far-right revanchism, against state propaganda, against the regime of isolation that has been imposed on him. He has been on hunger strike since January 8th, demanding his transfer to Korydallos from Domokos prison, where he was suddenly transferred after being kidnapped from the rural Volos prisons.
Nea Demokratia’s government is not even complying with the very law that was created specifically to bury Dimitris Koufontinas even deeper in prison. The resistance of the comrade who once again puts his own body as the ultimate barrier for a battle of coherence and individual dignity, concentrates around him all the historical, political and social meanings that define the stakes of our time.
