March to stop Richard Spencer from inciting violence at UF

Friday August 25, 2017 02:00pm – 05:00pm EDT

City Hall, Gainesville, Florida (USA)

We’re going to march from central downtown to the office of the UF President to demand, as local citizens, students, and alumni, that the university rescind it’s offer of a platform for Richard Spencer to spew hate speech and incite violence. We will ask that President Fuchs disavow his simplistic characterization of genocidal intent as “deeply disturbing,” but also as one of “differing opinions,” and register our communal disgust with such characterizations.

This is to be a peaceable march against fascism and white nationalism, in solidarity with the various marginal groups that stand to be affected, and who -collectively- make Gainesville the city that she is.

Bring bottled water, a sign, and your friends. We can stop all this bullshit from coming here. This is *not* Charlottesville.

We’ll gather in front of City Hall, 200 E. University Ave, to depart at 2:30. We’ll proceed down the south side of University Ave, turn left at 13th st, and cross 3rd avenue to Tigert Hall. Taking an easy pace, we should be there by around 3:15. Those who are not able to or do not wish to march can meet us at Tigert Hall at that time.

After briefly making our case, we’ll proceed to the adjacent Plaza of the Americas, and Turlington Plaza to ask the student community to support the broader community, even it’s most vulnerable, in this time of troubles.

No Nazis at UF – Protest Richard Spencer

September 12, 2017 06:00pm – 09:00pm

University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida (USA)

Well documented white supremacist Richard Spencer will be speaking at the University of Florida on September 12. We will share informations and support any actions taken to not allow this event to take place. However, so long as this event is still scheduled, we will be coordinating rides from across the state to protest the event and not allow a repeat of the recent events from UVA to happen here at the University of Florida.
