Solidarity statement by the Antifascist Action Sweden

On Saturday, August 12, hundreds of fascists gathered in a demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.

The demonstration went under the slogan ”Unite the Right” and criticized, among other things, the removal of a statue of the southern constable Robert E Lee.

Thousands of antifascists blocked and attacked the fascist demonstration throughout the day.
In the afternoon, a fascist drives his car straight into the anti-fascist protests. Around twenty anti-fascists are seriously injured and are still being treated in hospitals. One person has died. The driver disappears from the scene after the events but is arrested later.

Trump politics attacks the working class, migrants and LGBTQ people. Fascism is by nature violent and attacks us who stand in the way of its progress.

We want to send our unconditional international solidarity to the victims and their relatives.
We also monitor development and damage.

Antifascism is ALWAYS self-defense.

An attack on one is an attack on all of us.
